On Wednesday 16th January the Chapter will be receiving a talk from E. Comp. George Munro entitled "Hiram, King of Tyre".
Aside from King Hiram providing cedar wood for the temple little is known
or even taught about him. Yet his influence is far more wide reaching during Solomon's
time then originally thought and is a fundamental foundation stone to Freemasonry.
A brief background to the Phoenicians and the contribution they made not
only to the world then but how their skills and knowledge influenced our world
even now.
How did the close relationship between Hiram and Solomon come about.
The geo-political situation of the region and how changing fortunes helped
Tyre to become one of the richest cities in the world.
To dispel some of the myths surrounding Solomon as a kind monarch and
exposing his tenacity and determination to build the temple.
The treaties agreed between the nation of Israel and Tyre that brought about
new skills for exploration resulting in untold wealth.
The masonic lessons we learn from understanding Hiram, the man and king.
The Chapter offers a warm welcome to as many Companions as possible to attend and enjoy the Companionship on offer and, perhaps, make a "Daily Advancement in Masonic.
