On Friday 22nd January the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent welcomed a "Full House" of 99 Companions of the Province to join him for the now well established Monthly Chat.
He commenced by offering a very warm welcome to all, and commented on the magnificent attendance and thanked all those in attendance for their support.
He drew attention to the recently published letter signed by himself and the PGM in regard to the full meaning of the current suspension of Masonic activity, and that no meetings where Lodge or Chapter business of any kind may be held, whether physically or on Social Media sites. This does NOT prevent meetings like this one, and Chapters are encouraged to hold "get-togethers" whenever possible.
The suspension is to be reviewed by UGLE in March.
He then went on to underline the importance of communication and contact with all our members during this difficult time, whether it be by Virtual meetings such as this, by E Mail, telephone or even letter. Remembering there are always those who are living in isolation and loneliness.
He also reported on the recent Scribe E's Meeting which led to the last publication of "The Vault", the newsletter updating everyone on their Chapters current state of health.
Finally he also mentioned the recent "Exaltee's in Waiting" Virtual Meeting, held just over a week ago. An important event to ensure that those Candidates who are patiently waiting in the wings for the resumption of activity.
He then welcomed E. Comp. Joseph Marzouk, as our Guest speaker for the evening.
E. Comp. Joseph gave a geographic, masonic, intriguing and interesting presentation, assisted by PowerPoint, on the "7 Masonic Mountains," underlining that 5 are real and two fictional, and gave a full explanation and description together with their masonic meaning and usage.
These are Mount Ararat, Horeb, Tabor, Moriah, Calvary together with Heredom and Adamant.
As stated it was totally absorbing and very well received by all the Companions.
On completion, and being thanked by the MEGS with silent acclaim from the assembled company, we then had what has now become known as the "Infamous MEGS Quiz." As always he won.
To conclude, he once again thanked everyone for their attendance and support and gave notice that our next "Provincial Chat" would be held on Friday 19th February @ 20:00 where there will be a talk from the Most Worshipful Grand Master, Christine Chapman, of the Honourable Fraternity of Accepted Masons now known as Freemasonry for Women.
Please encourage you ladies to join on what will be a very interesting insight to one of the two Ladies Masonic Organisations.
